This beautiful metallic gold journal has been made with the finest sourced materials.

This journal features Chiyogami Washi, which is a Japanese silkscreened paper.

Whether your preference is for plain paper, a ruled journal, dot grid journal or a watercolour sketchbook, this item can be customised to suit your needs.

Plain Paper: These journals are filled with 70 pages of 120gsm paper made from algae and FSC-certified pulp. This Italian paper was designed to solve the problem of algal blooms in the Venetian Lagoon. The paper is smooth and features specks of the algae which gives it a unique character; the naturally occurring chlorophyll (the green pigment present in green plants) within the algae fades over time, making the paper a lighter colour. As the paper is PH-neutral and acid-free, it suitable for archival use. This paper can be used for writing, sketching and inks.

Lined & Dotted Paper: These books come with 70 sheets of tree-free paper, made with bamboo, cotton and sugarcane bagasse. The lines and dots are printed with soy-based inks.

Cartridge: These books come with 50 sheets of cartridge paper.

Bristol Paper: These books come with 40 sheets of 190gsm Bristol paper, perfect for illustrations.

Watercolour Paper: These books come with 24 sheets of 300 gsm cold pressed Watercolour paper.

made from:
Chiyogami washi is printed with patterns traditionally applied to kimonos, called Yuzen. Yuzen designs created in Kyoto’s textile industry satisfied demands for bright colours and symbolic motifs on clothing during the Edo period in Japan (1603-1868).

Papermakers soon adopted the precise detail and brilliance of these fashionable items for use on paper-based ornaments. “Chiyogami” (-gami meaning paper) became the word for paper decorated with repeated Japanese woodblock-printed patterns. Craftsmen began to use silkscreen printing as a manufacturing method and continue to do so today.

We carefully hand-make our covers, count our pages and look over every last detail before we finally bind our book together in our Birmingham studio.
